Pre-Training Safeguarding Survey

Questionnaire

PRE-TRAINING BASELINE: PREVIOUS TRAINING AND CURRENT SAFEGUARDING PRACTICE

Zimbabwe Cricket • Facilitated by 21Solutions Inc.

Purpose and Instructions

Safeguarding is being introduced as a new process. Complete this questionnaire before training to help identify previous training, existing arrangements and learning needs.

Describe what currently happens, rather than what you think the new process will require. No previous training or experience is assumed. You may answer “Not sure”, “No concerns encountered” or “No process currently known”.

Confidentiality

Describe arrangements in general terms only. Do not include names, identifying details or confidential case information.

This questionnaire is not a channel for reporting a current concern; any current concern should be raised separately through the appropriate reporting channel.

Participant Information

Please indicate your role or team structure.
Please select the survey date.
Please select Yes or No.
Baseline Questions: Experience and Current Practice
1
Before this training, what do you understand by safeguarding in your cricket role?
It is fine if the term is new to you.
Please provide your understanding or note if new to you.
2
Have any concerns about a person’s safety or welfare arisen in your team or cricket activities, whether or not they were called safeguarding concerns?
If no, answer the remaining questions about arrangements you know of, or write “No concerns encountered”.
3
If concerns have arisen, how were they first brought to your attention?
Describe the method only, without case details.
Please describe the method or write 'No concerns encountered'.
4
When a concern arises, whom do you currently communicate with first?
Give a role or department, not a person’s name. If none has arisen, whom would you contact?
Please indicate a role or department.
5
Is there an existing procedure or reporting channel for safety or welfare concerns?
If yes, briefly describe how it is used.
6
If a concern has arisen, what immediate steps were taken to address safety or welfare, and who coordinated the response?
Describe roles and steps only.
Please provide response or write 'No concerns encountered'.
7
How are concerns and actions currently recorded, if at all?
Describe the method, not the contents of any record.
Please describe the recording method or state if none.
8
How is information about a concern currently kept confidential, and which roles or departments receive it?
Please describe confidentiality arrangements.
9
After a concern is raised, how is follow-up arranged? If the first contact is unavailable or no response is received, is there another route you currently use?
Please describe follow-up and backup routes.
Training Needs
Please share what you would like clarified.
Facilitator use: Review previous training responses and the nine baseline questions to understand existing reporting, recording and follow-up arrangements and identify learning needs. Distinguish “No concerns encountered” from “No process known”; neither establishes that no risks exist. Use responses to tailor the introduction of the new process, not to rank participants, judge staff performance or certify competence. Keep case-specific disclosures out of group discussion and address any current concern separately through the appropriate reporting channel.
